Uneven Skin Tone in NYC

Uneven skin tone, or hyperpigmentation, is a common skin concern that can affect your look—and your confidence. Precision Aesthetics MD is committed to providing innovative solutions for uneven skin tone, utilizing advanced treatments like Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy and SilkPeel.

Types of skin tone issues

Freckles

Freckles are small, concentrated spots of melanin that typically appear on sun-exposed areas of the skin. They are often associated with fair skin and genetic predisposition.

Age spots

Also known as liver spots or solar lentigines, age spots are flat, brown, gray, or black spots that commonly appear on sun-exposed areas in older adults.

Dark circles

Dark circles under the eyes are often caused by aging, fatigue, or genetics. They can make you look tired and older than your actual age.

Melasma

Melasma is characterized by brown or gray-brown facial patches, often triggered by hormonal changes or sun exposure.

Our treatments for uneven skin tone

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy

Our Alma IPL device uses intense pulsed light to target and break down excess melanin in the skin. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy is particularly effective for treating freckles and age spots, helping to achieve a more even skin tone.

SilkPeel

SilkPeel uses medical-grade diamonds to gently exfoliate away dead skin cells and shrink pores while simultaneously infusing specialized skin serums to deeply hydrate, brighten, and even skin discolorations in one quick and incredibly refreshing office procedure.

Recovery from Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy

Recovery from IPL therapy is typically straightforward and involves minimal downtime. Immediately after the treatment, you might experience some redness, swelling, and a sensation like a mild sunburn. These reactions subside within a few hours to a couple of days. Darkened spots may appear more pronounced initially but fade over time as they come to the skin's surface and flake off. Protecting your skin from the sun after IPL therapy is essential, as it will be more sensitive to sunlight. Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and avoiding direct sun exposure can help protect your skin and enhance the results of the treatment.

Recovery from SilkPeel

After your SilkPeel procedure, please refrain from using retinoids and other acids for three days. Please make sure to use sunblock daily. This will ensure the best result possible. Also, we recommend not waxing the treated area for five days after your treatment date.
